BridgeWave 60Ghz 1Gbps Full Duplex Wireless Point to Point Installation
Typical leased circuits that are affordable max out at 100mbps leaving the only other alternative being a wireless PTP solution.
This is where manufacturers such as BridgeWave can offer a more cost effective solution with gigabit FULL Duplex speeds.
We have been installing gigabit wireless point to points for several years now, with such technologies as FSO (Laser Link) and millimetre wave 60/80Ghz. (BridgeWave)
This particular installation used a GE60 which is BridgeWaves 60Ghz solution 1Gbps Full Duplex link with latency of < 40uSec.
Its RF interface uses two frequencies (transmit and receive) 58.1 GHz/62.9 GHz digitally modulated (BFSK) using 1.4 GHz of bandwidth.
Its antenna is an Integrated 10 in (25 cm) directional which is a Linear polarized (H/V) 40 dBi gain with 1.4° beam.
The BridgeWave GE60 has two Ethernet interfaces -1000base-SX with LC connector for data and a 10/100base-TX with RJ-45 connector for optional management.
The size and weight of the GE60 is one of its advantages, Radio/antenna unit: 12 w * 12 h * 6 d (in) / 30 w * 30 h * 15 d (cm) and weighs less than 10Kg.
Installation typically takes about a day per end depending on the cable run into the network infrastructure, but can be installed within a day of your cable runs are short.
This particular link we also used a LigoWave PTP 5Ghz RF backup which is the other unit that you can see in the background. This provides a backup of 200mbps should anything happen to the main link.
The following are more details on the BridgeWave GE60, the datasheet can be found at the bottom of this page.
